The first step is to learn to be present. If we’d spent most of our lives having our minds on autopilot, we would never be able to say, “I’m not thinking about what I’m doing right now.” For the most part, we are just drifting with the flow, so we’re not even aware of our actions.
It’s easy to think that we are doing everything in our power to not be thinking about our actions. We tend to be very quick to say that we are doing everything we can to avoid thinking about our actions. This can be true, but it’s not always so. I once heard a group of women say they are not thinking about their actions. They are not even aware that they are doing anything. That may simply be true.
Our focus is on the people who love us, our actions, and the people who love us. We don’t want to be doing things that we will not be doing. For that reason, we need to be focusing on our actions, our actions, and our actions. We don’t want to be thinking about our actions when we don’t think about their actions when we do.

When we are out and about, our minds are very busy and we tend to have a lot of thoughts wandering around in the background. Not just random thoughts, but thoughts that we are trying to avoid and think of ways to avoid.
As a patient, we tend to get very distracted and lose focus so we forget to think about ourselves. We think it’s better to think about something else than to think about our health but really we are doing the opposite. We are not focused on our health, but on our state of mind.
So what are we really doing to our health in those times when we are not paying attention to ourselves? Not thinking about the things we are doing to our health, but about the things we are thinking about. When we are nursing, we are thinking about what we are doing for the patient and in that moment, we are not focused on ourselves. We are not focused on our health but on our state of mind. We are not focused on our health, but on our state of mind.
